Kikuo Saito was an American painter, set designer, and theater director of Japanese birth. He became famous for his color-field abstract paintings created with dynamic gestural strokes. He was also involved in directing and designing dance and theater performances.When the Japanese artist Kikuo Saito immigrated to New York in 1966 at age 27, he knew very little English.
