Biography Ceramic artist. Studied at Ipswich School of Art and Bristol Polytechnic, establishing his first studio in Suffolk, before going on to study at the Royal College of Art. There he perfected his technique of making large black raku bowls which were usually thrown and turned but Smith also used slab-building, slip-casting and press-moulding.
